Has somebody already watched this youtube video :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNaNr1Hm5dE

Very fascinating! What kind of app is used, has someone got an idea? The
author seems to be a Reaktor user... Maybe he would share his patch :)
Or maybe there is an app here I missed which can proceed to such
generative things?

Thanks!

Yeah Nubilus, share your secret ensemble with us!
Nobody can contact him through the NI forum?

Private messaging is turned off there for the mo' (the online mngr over
there is turning it back on soon!), and he (nubilus) has e-mail
messaging turned off. funny, the last message by him was one saying the
40h was coming in the mail!

Sorry, I have been really busy lately so I haven't visited the forum for
a long time.

Thanks for the comments, glad to hear that the incredibly poor video and
sound quality didn't put you off completely. :)

The Reaktor app is a simple little generative thing i whipped together a
long time ago and just updated with 40h control before shooting that
video. It is a relatively simple ensemble, but it does make some nice
moody sounds.

I wouldn't wanna share it in its current form, as it is really really
messy and quite unstable. However, if there is an interest in it, I will
see if I can polish it up a bit and publish it here. I have actually
been wanting to work on it for some time now.

hey jesper,
may i be the first to encourage you to publish this ensemble in any
form, be it polished up, or as it stands.
i'm working in max/msp though would love to see how you approached this
in reaktor. generative patches are a particular interest of mine lately,
and i'm really interested in what you've done.
*encouragement*
cheers

Yeah,
I would be very interested in it too. May you find the time to publish
it there in the form you desire. I would be very happy to test it.
Generative patches totally fit the spirit of the 40h and I think the
wiki lacks of them except Life and Muon.

Encouragement from me too!
Cheers
Julien who is sorry for his bad english.

bumping to keep this thread alive
(i know it's only been 3 days but excited by the possibility to go
generative)

slightly OT but i just thought i'd share. for any Live users; download
Robert Henke's "Generative" Ableton project for some inspiration
on generative music. he's using follow actions to trigger clips randomly
and it sounds pretty awesome. i get my monome tonight, hoping to do some
generative stuff with it as well!

You should note that this Reaktor instrument isn't really generative in
the strict sense of the word. It is really a rather simple thing with
feedback altering.

Just don't wanna get people way too excited about this. There is a good
reason why I didn't release it in the first place. :)

I have had to face the fact that I am way too busy with my Ph.d at the
moment, so I most likely won't find time to work on this right now. I
have attached the current version which is the one from the youtube
clip.

As I said, don't expect too much. This is a very old ensemble that I
made several years ago, before I knew much of event coding in Reaktor,
so it is quite messy and in serious need of optimization. Also, it is
very likely full of stuff that has been 'borrowed' from other ensembles.
I know that the reverb is something I found somewhere else, but I cannot
remember where.

The 40h control is quite simple. Just press any button and see where it
takes you.

Enjoy, and do feel free to enhance this thing. It should be relatively
simple to improve, if you can find your way around the really messy
structure.

YES! Thanks for posting this up Jesper. I really appreciate it,
particularly as you mentioned it wasn't complete in your eyes.
I must say I had great fun with this app last night. The revrb unit
attached to it is quite lush too. VERY deep reverbs!

Thanks Jesper for sharing this awesome reaktor ensemble!
I think Nadnile deserves a wiki entry...

also, seems like it is based on skrewell (the structure, not just the
gui). im thinking this started out as a mod, perhaps, and ended up
somthing entirely new? i was very intrigued by that instrument at
first, myself, but i always feel like im cheating using it, like im
somehow tapping into lazyfish's creative mind instead of my own.

anyways, this is very very cool. i like the sound of this better than
skrewell, and the monome interfacing is brilliant.

yeah, i think i remember skrewell sparking the desire to make it. if i
recall correctly though, the skrewell structure was too heavily obscured
to really give much inspiration. always annoys me when people do that.

i understand entirely what you mean about using something like skrewell
and metaphysical function and similar instruments. it is a bit of a
grey-zone, isn't it? at some point the design of an instrument becomes
so that it really constitutes a work of art on its own. and using it for
your own compositions does sorta border on copying someone else's work.
i would never really feel comfortable using one of the aforementioned
instruments in actual work. but they are absolutely marvelous
inspirations for developing personal instruments in reaktor.
