Thought I might post this little patch...lets you drop eight 'bouncing' lights in each column which trigger an oscillator when they hit the bottom...select the frequencies of each ball in the number boxes. Very much a work in progress, but something to play with I guess.

Hmmm...must admit I haven't tested it on OSX but it's very simple so I can't see there being many problems. 1) Have you got serial_40h/serialo running in the background? Is the correct serial port selected? 2) If so, hit 'clear', then open the 'main.mxb' patch rather than any others (patches such as 'osc1.mxb' and 'bounce1.mxb' are opened automatically). Turn audio on by pressing the speaker icon. 3) Now set the desired frequencies in each number box by highlighting with the mouse and dragging. Then hit buttons and enjoy! Sorry if this is a little ramshackle...like I said, a work in progress. Will rewrite at some point. greg wrote: > seems like i'm not able to get this running... do i need to have > something else running to make this work? > > not completely familiar with the max environment but i can't seem to > figure it out... > > any thoughts? > > cheers, > greg > > (btw, this is on osx... if it matters)

That's OK Brian, thanks for taking the time. I've contacted the author (well I think I have via this forum) but unfortunately there hasn't been a response as of yet. Are there any forum users out there who could e-mail me the 'bounce' app?

Awesome. Thankyou.

I can't seem to get it to work at all. I'm using Runtime on an up-to-date Intel Mac with serialIO. I tried opening up the main.mxb patch, but pressing buttons on the 40h doesn't do anything.

Super old indeed, and really a bit rubbish...I'm amazed anyone still cares about this, and you'll probably be very disappointed once you actually get it working. I actually found the files for this again last night, so will get it working on 4.6 ASAP - although my unit is currently across the pond getting fixed by Brian and co, so I won't be able to practically test it...

A midi out option would be ideal. this app is extremely limited as it is right now. since it seems that a few people are trying to update this for 4.6, then possibly midi out could be added, similar to what was done with the Game of life Chuck app ?????????
