who are you guys going to ship with? I'm starting to fret about the
shipping costs of sending such a large machine to me in little old
england. Also, not wanting to sound like a silly but what does eastern
time work out as? sorry but I'm used to the old GMT.
cheers

mmm... yeh fisher good question?!. I remember the customs tax alone was
around £70 when my 40h came to the UK. Brian do we also have to pay at
the time of pre-order on wednesday or is it different now using Google
checkout ? I don't get paid till the friday of this week:-(

Oh and Fisher I think eastern time is 5hours behind the uk. It's just
the time zone that New York, Philidelphia, Miami etc all come under.

Cheers Brian

hey guys,

we should have a large batch ready to ship on the 15th. so it shouldn't
make much (any) difference if you order right on the hour or later that
day, or a few days later. i'll post updates if we receive enough orders
that the expected ship date moves for later orders.

shipping we haven't settled yet. we're again using UPS. we have a pretty
good discount with them due to volume. we're estimating about $100
shipping international, to be confirmed.

duty is absolutely your sole obligation. there's nothing we can do to
avoid these fees.

(good thing that the US dollar is pathetically weak.)

US shipping will be around $20 (i think).

payment will be a couple of google checkout links on an "order" page
that doesn't yet exist on our site.

yes, you must pay immediately upon pre-order. payment means reservation.

i don't expect we'll sell out of these immediately by any stretch.

A tip:

International shipping can be unbelievably cheap via an airlines'
freight division.

The downsides:

Receiving party must either claim the package at the destination
airport, or usually the airline has a relationship with a 3rd party
local shipper, at which point who knows what happens to the cost.

Shipper must get the packages physically to the airport.

Freight is the first thing to get bumped off a flight if it is
over-booked, for weight reasons. Therefore timing can sometimes be
compromised.

But it could definitely be worth looking into.

Have used United Freight with success to Germany and Alaska (OK not
international from here, but really expensive via FedEx!!!!)

yeah i remember it being around £70 but i can't remember if it was a
fixed price or whether it goes up with size and weight. If so then i'm
priced out and I'll wait for the 128.

Since payment will be with google checkout, what is involved in this?
Do you just need to have a gmail account, or something? or, is google
checkout some big deal to create an account like having a confirmed
PayPal account?

just curious, since the big day is tomorrow. i want to get all my ducks
in a row beforehand, and have never used google checkout...

it doesn't require account creation or confirmation.

they just take your credit card number. they even let you anonymize your
e-mail address if you don't want to give it to us.
