interesting. is the file attached to the wiki? NEVER MIND I SEE IT!
on 12.09.2007 16:46
yeah, it looks sortof hidden up there, but it is there.
on 12.09.2007 22:10
This sounds very intriguing, but I can't get it to work. Could you provide step-by-step instructions? Thanks!
on 12.09.2007 23:39
open 40h_LPU.map with mapd open _Lph.mxb click "open" or press 'o' on the keyboard to open a loop, then press space bar or the "start" button (below the open button, not next to "save" use the 40h to control phase relation.

Hi I cant open the _Lph.mxb or the skr, or mlr.. Max crashes on me, this happens with alot of the (monome) max patches around.. Anyone want to take a look at the file:Rapport included in this message. I have contacted cycling 74 about this, but they say it is not their fault. All help appreciated, I have tried "everything"... Thank You arne
on 13.09.2007 17:50
what operating system are you on? -edit- nvm, it's right there at the top of the report. and what app were you running when this crash report was generated? were you running any programs other than max/msp and monomeserial/mapd/serialio/etc ? has anyone else used the monome simultaneously with a Wacom tablet plugged in?
on 13.09.2007 18:02
Hi Im on OSX 10.4.10, it was the same when I was running 10.3.9. Its an old problem, it happens with alot of the max patches regardless of what other programs Im running or doing to make it work. Believe me :/ I have tried everything. My last postings on this problem: http://forum.monome.org/topic/805#new I am using a wacom tablet, but it crashes even if Im using it or not.. arne

> has anyone else used the monome simultaneously with a Wacom tablet plugged in?
I can likely rule this out as the problem. I use a Wacom exclusively for
cursor input, and haven't had any problems with the 40h and Max/MSP. I'm
also on 10.4.10.
Every so often Max/MSP will hang, and nothing short of restarting my
machine will remove the process, but it's never been a consistent thing.
Sorry that I'm not more help.
on 13.09.2007 18:20
Yes, thats my experience as well with the wacom. This problem of mine with some of the patches in max seems to be a problem shrouded in mystery.. :( a
on 13.09.2007 18:42
I couldn't get it to work initially on my machine because _Lph.mxb wasn't able to locate 64button.abs.mxb. Without the latter, none of the buttons work (or even have text indicating what they do). I copied 64button.abs.mxb to the Lph folder and now everything works fine. Nifty program! Steve Reich for the masses!
on 13.09.2007 18:52
My Mapd works, so is my 40h_LPU.map, but when I try to open the _Lph.mxb, max crashes. a
on 13.09.2007 19:42
shit. that 64button.abs.mxb might be your problem arne. that file is in either the mlr folder or 64step folder or both i'll upload a new .zip with that file in the folder soon.
on 13.09.2007 19:52
..no thats not where there problem is, as i said, Mapd works, so is my 40h_LPU.map, buttons lights up and everything, but when I try to open the: _Lph.mxb, max crashes. a
on 13.09.2007 20:06
yeah, that makes sense. the .map file is for Mapd, but 64button.abs.mxb is a max file abstraction for the buttons i used in _Lph.mxb. tomoe: are you using max runtime, or full version? arne: try deleting what you have and downloading this version.
on 13.09.2007 22:31
hmm. i dunno what to tell you. since it's crashing with mlr and everything else as well, it's probably not this patch. have you tried doing the prebinding fix?
on 13.09.2007 22:36
Hi What is the prebinding fix? It is not crashing with everything by the way, makes it even stranger.. a
on 13.09.2007 22:57
hmmm, on second thought, maybe it's irrelevant since you're on a g4, but... http://www.cycling74.com/forums/index.php?t=msg&goto=105069&rid=0&S=03aa5b6521d91c9f904b148b3a1f8824

@arne: again, this is really a cycling74 or setup problem. which is weird because os x is pretty easy to use with max/msp. what you need to do is find one of their help patches that crashes max/msp (so that "monome" isn't involved at all), and send them the bug report.
on 14.09.2007 05:54
I'm using the latest version of max runtime on a G5 with OS 10.4.10 and haven't had any max crashes. Even when I couldn't get Lph to work initially, max runtime didn't crash but simply indicated in the message box that it couldn't locate 64button.abs.mxb. What I would suggest is reinstalling the latest version of max runtime and then repairing permissions.
on 14.09.2007 07:57
Hello Thank you tehn, i will do that, they would not touch it the last time when monome patches was involved.. tomoe97: I have tried reinstalling alot :) I repaired the permission and deleting/reinstalling the latest version, it crashes again. Off to cycling74. added: Now I have sent them a crash repport from one of their own patch...lets see what happens next. arne

The solution, I am finaly able to open the patches! ----- Arne, It looks like you have changed the location of the MaxMSP 4.6 folder and its contents. The MaxMSP 4.6 folder needs to be directly in the Applications folder, and its contents must be left as installed. Either replace the items to their original locations, or do a clean install. To clean out MaxMSP 4.6.x entirely, remove these items: ~/Library/Preferences/Max 4.6 Preferences ../Library/Frameworks/MaxAPI.framework ../Library/Frameworks/MaxAudioAPI.framework ../Library/Frameworks/MaxJSRef.framework ../Library/Frameworks/JitterAPI.framework ../Library/CFMSupport/MaxCFMAdaptor and MaxAudioCFMAdaptor /Applications/MaxMSP 4.6 Once you've done that, make sure you have the latest installer available from our website: http://www.cycling74.com/downloads All the best, -Ben edit: So what I did was trashing all of the above documents and a clean install. and wooooo!!!:)
