hi

i think radial-like plugin would be great on the monome

nibbler could be maybe something like radial but isnt there yet....

but as i have radial i have a question

i can let my 40h talk to radial with mapd...
but is there a way to let them talk 2 ways...
so that i can see the movement of the radials on the monome?

i'm not a very good programmer.....

youd have to program an inbetween layer app, something that takes monome
serial midi to radial, and back from radial (assuming radial sends midi,
does it?).

'The output portion of the Sync window lets you choose a MIDI port
output
destination for sync information'

says the documentation... don't know if that is enough?

...as you can see at my answer... don't know much of programmming..
but i like the monome and i like the concept of radial and i think they
are made for each other... but how....

i might be able to do this, but how would you want things to be
displayed on the 40h?

if you know how you want everything to work, i could probably program
it, but i don't have enough time right now to take on project that
involves creativity or decision-making on my part (this is part of why
nibbler is taking so long -- i don't know exactly how i want all of the
little details to be yet).

wow thanks...

i give this a little thought and i will come back to this asap

but for me it's enough to see and alter the movement, the length (in
parts of 1/8) and the starting point of the radials..

other features like change of speed, pitch and direction are 'optional
extra's', but for me not the big part

6 radial's are enough

i will think of a layout

volume and effects i would do with an other controller

ok

i would like a 'liniar' approach
meaning a radial is just a line of 8 lights/buttons
(a line is the lenght of the loop/sample)
i think 6 radials would be nice (row 1-6)
so the under 2 lines can be used for shift click (i will explain)

if its possible it would be nice to have no light (0), full light (x),
and half light(-)
so a line could look like this
--00x00-
in this case the part taken from the loop/sample is 5/8, starting point
is at 3/8 and the current position is shown by the full light
(blinking?)

if half light isn't possible :
00xxqxx0 (q is position blinking)

when a button on a line is clicked this is the new starting point the
lenghts remains the same:
( 00xxxxx0 then pressing the second button becomes 0xxxxx00 )
on click the sample starts immediate at the new beginpoint (in sync)

with shift click (a button from row 8 with a button from the radial (row
1-6)) you can alter the length
with the next button in that row button shift click you can change speed
(the first in row slower, the last in row quicker)
with an other button shift click you can change pitch
with the next in row....and maybe some other features....

so one row to go (row 7)
it would also be nice if you can trigger sync on/of (light on/of)
in radial you can that way make very nice soundscapes bacause you can
use samples with a totaly difrent length (and even live record an input)

for volume and effect a would use an othe controller (in my case the
evolution uc-33e)

well this would make a dream come true :)

i hope this all makes sence
