so c1978 and i wrapped up our DIY monomes today. his dad helped us with
the wood working ans we got some sweet aluminum top plates (sans rounded
corners) for pretty stinking cheap.

we're both very stoked here's a video of us having an impromptu jam out…
with limited sample resources we had. looking forward to getting deeper
into the programming and stuff… let the fun begin.

c1978 witll upload some more pictures of our monomes together nd when i
get home ill do some "product: shots of mine. super fun everyone!

that's awesome, call in sick tomorrow and have some fun! cool that you
got the apps up and running, no problems, that's good to see.

so what do dads think of the monome stuff? mine's nearly 60 and it's
not even worth beginning explaining it all.

forgot to keep the photos rollin, but you'll get the idea. my pops loved
helping us out, he's already asking when we're getting 2 more so he can
help build a modular wooden case for them to slip in and out of. haha.

hope this makes some sense for you. we basically have the cable coming
out from a hand carved notch in the side of the case. its being held in
place by the bottom plate with a knot tied behind it on the inside.

amazing job guys. nice woodwork skills. is this the first confirmed
completed kit with enclosure? is there a prize?

so flin's playing the moog? shweet.

looking at that photo of the USB cable - is it not disconnectable?

the usb cable is semi permanent. to disconnect youd have to unscrew the
bottom plate and then unplug it. we were going back and forth on what
would work best. and came to the conclusion that it wouldnt bug us at
all to have the cable coming out of a small hole from the side. dunno
bout you, but im not gonna have this thing unplugged very often. haha.

I ended up tying down the USB cable for my novation SL25 because it
wasn't a tight fit, that was a year ago, no worries. it's kinda nice
because when there's a bunch of USB cable ends lying around I know for
sure which is the SL.

on the whole i think c1978 and i decided that alot of the simple wood
working traditional decisions were the best. We started thinking we were
gonna cnc and ended up with the chop saw… i feel alot closer to my
monome than i think i would have had i used a $10,000 machine to make
mine. cant really explain it we just feel like we have alot invested in
ours.

glad you guys like em. get out there and finish yours! i wanna see em
fewls!

Not only the 10,000 machine issue, but from a woodworking standpoint -
the mitered frame is the correct decision!

Nice job

Hi guys,

Thought I'd ul my temporary enclosure for my new monome (whohee)
Since I'm planning to use it for visuals I thought my matrox dualheadbox
would be ideal.
